To celebrate National Anthem Day, Chicagoland Speedway today announced the return of Jim Cornelison who will belt “The Star Spangled Banner” at the Magnificent Mile and a Half. Cornelison is better known as the “Gold Standard” for his iconic rendition of the ballad. His performance will headline Chicagoland Speedway’s patriotic tribute during the Stars and Stripes weekend June 28 – July 1, 2018.
“Jim Cornelison has become a revered tradition and integral part of our pre-race ceremonies over the years,” said Scott Paddock, President of Chicagoland Speedway. “Jim’s iconic voice is a perfect complement to the unparalleled pageantry and patriotism that NASCAR uniquely presents to the most loyal and passionate fan base in all of sports.”
Cornelison has belted out the National Anthem at Chicago-area events since 1996 and brought his talents to Chicagoland Speedway beginning in 2013. As the son of military parents, Cornelison uses his Live the Salute platform to showcase his patronage at sporting events and in everyday life.
“The National Anthem is a revered tradition among Chicagoans, especially among Chicago sports fans,” said Cornelison. “For this reason, it is a great honor to sing the Star Spangled Banner on the national platform presented before the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoffs at Chicagoland Speedway. Every year it has become more exciting as the fans have come to embrace being involved in the anthem.”

The third NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race of the year took place at the 1.5-mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Kyle Busch, a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series veteran, started on the pole and led 55-circuits enroute to victory lane on Friday night. Other surprises upfront throughout the evening included Stewart Friesen, last week’s race winner Brett Moffitt, and second-place finisher Johnny Sauter.
“I bet you it was more entertaining in those last few laps with everything going on behind us – I saw a few moments in my mirror where I was glad that they were kind of side-by-side because it gave me a chance to inch away a little but, but as soon as they were single file they ran me right back down,” said Busch after the spectacular race that saw seven different leaders and 14 lead changes. “It’s tough to get away in these trucks because they punch such a big hole in the air and you get such a big run. It’s hard to be by yourself in this series, you are always towing somebody along and that’s what the 16 was doing a lot there in the middle part of the race through that long run, I could kind of get to him, but I could never work my way up to him to get around him. He always kept working the air a little bit. Good job to those guys, but I’m glad to be in victory lane with Brexton (son) here and the rest of our guys.”
Kyle Busch, leading six different times throughout the night at his home track, scored his 50th career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win. His win total across all three of NASCAR’s National Series currently stands at 184 as Busch looks to complete a weekend sweep. The 32-year old will run in Saturday’s Boyd Gaming 300 and Sunday’s Pennzoil 400.
Busch talked about the changes he and his crew had to make throughout the running after the race.
“It’s pretty awesome, just great team – everybody at Kyle Busch Motorsports and Rowdy Manufacturing, can’t say enough about this Cessna Toyota Tundra,” said the race winner. “Really, really fast and I felt like we were just struggling a little bit on the long run. (Mike) Hillman (Jr.) kept making changes on it all night long and he made it better each and every pit stop.”
Johnny Sauter edged out last weekend’s race winner Brett Moffitt for the runner-up spot. Sauter, driving the No. 21 Allegiant Air Ford with ThorSport Racing, finished sixth in stage one and later eighth in stage two. The Wisconsin native did not lead the field at all throughout the 134-lap event.
Sauter now holds three top five and three top 10 finishes along with a win going into a three-week hiatus.
Brett Moffitt rounded out the top-three finishers in the inaugural Stratosphere 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The young driver from Iowa led the field for 27 circuits and showed strength in the closing laps. However, while leading, Moffitt got into the side of Myatt Snider that caused the No. 16 Toyota to lose the lead to Kyle Busch. He then rebounded from the incident in the closing laps but came up short.
“When the 13 pulled out from the pits a couple laps down and side drafted us for the lead and it allowed Kyle (Busch) to close in I tried to go to the bottom of a lapped car and he turned down into us,” said Moffitt on the incident with Snider. “It’s just frustrating because when you’re out of the race you shouldn’t get in the way of the leaders. It was fun out there racing Kyle and we had a strong AISIN Group Toyota Tundra, just can’t thank TRD and all of our partners enough for getting us here. It’s just a bittersweet race.”
With the victory at Atlanta, Moffitt holds two top five and two top 10 finishes with Hattori Racing.
Stewart Friesen started second and showed dominance upfront all throughout the night. Friesen, leading 31 laps of the 201-mile event, finished fifth on the race leaderboard. The Canadian driver holds one top five and two top 10 finishes through three races thus far.
Justin Marks and John Hunter Nemechek had issues early on as they made contact. Shortly after the initial contact, Marks brought out the first yellow flag of the evening as he spun due to a cut tire in turn four. Later on during that same caution period, John Hunter Nemechek pitted for a soft tire. Marks, who started seventh, finished 11th while John Hunter Nemechek took home a 21st.
Matt Crafton qualified 12th in round two but started at the tail of the field for unapproved adjustments. He later developed an issue with a break line and a caliper rupture and took his No. 88 Ford to the garage. He was unable to return and went on to finish 29th.
The next race for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday, March 24th. The Alpha Energy Solutions 250 will take place at 2:00 PM ET. on FOX Sports 1 and MRN.

Announced today, 18-year Hillsborough, California native, Toni Breidinger, has joined Venturini Motorsports and will make three driving appearances during the 2018 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season.
Breidinger, USAC's (United States Auto Club) all-time winningest female driver with 14 pavement victories, will make her ARCA Series debut at Madison International Speedway on June 15. Joining an already dynamic team driver lineup, Breidinger's will race in three consecutive ARCA events including Gateway Motorsports Park (June 22) and Chicagoland Speedway (June 28).
With her sights set on becoming a successful driver at NASCAR's highest level, Breidinger began her career behind the wheel of a go-kart at the age of 9. Progressing with age and moving up the ranks, Breidinger began racing midget cars in USAC. In 2014 and 2015 she placed 2nd overall in USAC's Speed 2 Western U.S. Pavement Midget Series driver standings. After a breakout year she went on to claim the 2016 Speed 2 Western U.S. Pavement Midget Series Championship.
"I'm definitely expecting to learn a lot. It's going to be a huge learning experience, but I'm very excited and more than ready to take on the challenge racing in the ARCA series this season," said Breidinger.
"I feel extremely lucky and privileged to be making my series debut racing for Venturini Motorsports. They do an amazing job with developing drivers. The knowledge I will gain from them will be very valuable and beneficial. I am beyond excited to be a part of Venturini Motorsports."
In 2017, further preparing for the next step in her career, Briedinger made her first start in a USAC Silver Crown car then later making her late model stock car debut.
"The USAC cars I've been racing are completely different from the ARCA cars, but racing them has really developed my racing skills. Everything I've learned throughout my 4 years racing USAC will be carried over into the next step of my career. The USAC Silver Crown cars have a lot of horsepower and compete on some of the same short tracks as ARCA so that should help facilitate the transition. Also, I've competed in a few late model races to prepare me for the jump to ARCA. I'm really looking forward to this opportunity."
In addition to racing an abbreviated ARCA schedule, Breidinger will compete in the full six-race USAC Silver Crown Sprint Car pavement series schedule.

Fans attending the Verizon IndyCar Series Phoenix Grand Prix at ISM Raceway will have the opportunity to attend a free pre-race concert from multiplatinum rock band Spin Doctors on Saturday, April 7.
Spin Doctors found huge success in the early 1990s with their hits, “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong” (1991) and “Two Princes” (1993), which were both Billboard Hot 100 Top 20 hits. Their 1991 debut album, “Pocket Full of Kryptonite,” was certified gold in 1992, and is now 5x platinum in the United States.
As part of a 1993 reunion to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Mario Andretti’s last win, the Spin Doctors will set the tone for the weekend-long celebration of one of the world’s most renowned race car drivers.
Spin Doctors are Chris Barron (vocals), Aaron Comess (drums), Eric Schenkman (guitar) and Mark White (bass). The New York-based group has two platinum albums and four Top 10 hits in the US Mainstream Rock Charts. Their latest album, “If the River Was Whiskey,” was released in 2013.
In addition to the concert, the 1993 reunion will feature historic cars from the 1993 race in Phoenix including the winning car piloted by Andretti as well as autograph sessions, Q&As and a special pre-race appearance by alumni from that historic moment.
The concert, which resulted from a partnership between ISM Raceway and Niner Sports & Entertainment, is just one part of race day excitement that is free to all fans with a grandstand ticket for the Phoenix Grand Prix Verizon IndyCar Series race.
Tickets to the Phoenix Grand Prix at ISM Raceway are available online at ISMRaceway.com, by phone at 1-866-408-RACE (7223) or in person at the ISM Raceway ticket office.

During the NASCAR offseason, a bunch of headlines were generated about the surge of young talent invading the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
Kyle Busch told everyone during the NASCAR Media Tour that despite the influx of young guns, the veteran drivers still have what it takes to get the job done and were still worthy of being a big part of NASCAR’s promotional campaign. His comments generated quite a bit of chatter throughout the industry.
This past weekend in Atlanta, Busch’s remarks were validated as a group of veterans put a stranglehold on the top 10, demonstrating to fans that they are still here and certainly aren’t about to step aside and give way to the rising tide of baby-faced challengers.
Kevin Harvick, a past series champion who has a pair of victories at Bristol Motor Speedway, dominated the Atlanta race, taking his first checkered flag there since 2001. He was followed across the finish line in order by seven other notable veterans, including Brad Keselowski, Clint Bowyer, Denny Hamlin, defending champ Martin Truex Jr., Joey Logano and Kyle and Kurt Busch.
Harvick said the strong finish by the veterans doesn’t necessarily make any kind of statement, but that he feels the sport needs a good variety of winners, both young and old, to satisfy its vast fan base.
“We’re in a great spot in our sport, and I think (at Atlanta) there was a lot of experience,” Harvick said following his win. “Next week there will be a lot of young guys in the mix with a racetrack that’s a little calmer with things you don’t have to have in your memory bank. But we’re in a great spot in our sport because we have these young guys that are fired up and can drive the car fast and have great stories and have ties to great family heritage of our sport, and you have guys that you’ve never heard of. And that’s what you have to have.
“The diversity from young to old is something that we haven’t had in a long time, and we’re going to corral everybody to make sure that they realize that we all need each other in order to make this sport all that we want it to be.”
The veteran feels that experience is the key to success at Bristol, a track where templers can flare and unpredictability is at its highest.
"You never know what's going to happen," said Harvick, whose last Bristol win came during the 2016 Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race. "Things are happening so fast. Cars tend to run into each other. Things happen at Bristol that don't happen anywhere else."
At Bristol, the past four races have been claimed by veteran drivers. Last season Jimmie Johnson won the Food City 500 at the controls of his No. 48 Lowe’s Chevy and Kyle Busch was dominating during August’s Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race in his No. 18 M&M’s Toyota.
Fans should expect another strong showing by the tough old guard when NASCAR’s best drivers compete in the 26th annual Food City 500, April 13-15, 2018 at The Last Great Colosseum.
Busch, a winner of 43 Cup Series races, including six victories at Bristol, narrowly missed claiming his second Cup Series championship last November in Homestead, Fla., and says he’s in the prime of his career. He feels like he has a great handle on how to race at Bristol and knows that his experience on the .533-mile oval will be very beneficial when the green flag drops.
“You've got to be adaptive in this sport,” Busch said. “I think that kind of lends itself a little bit maybe towards veteran drivers, but I think also it lends itself to the younger driver, too, because they don't know what to do. They don't know what to expect. They just drive the hell out of it. They don't know really how they want their car to feel. They just figure it out as they go. It all comes around, and the guys that are good and forever will be good are always good.”
Johnson, a seven-time Cup Series champion, has two victories at BMS and feels sometimes like his lengthy career in the sport has flashed in the blink of an eye. He certainly is ready for more success at the ‘World’s Fastest Half-Mile.’
"It's so wild, I was once the young gun,” Johnson said. “Every time I'd see my name written, it was Rookie Jimmie Johnson. Now I'm grandpa. It's gone fast. But my desire to be competitive, my desire to be a champion, my desire to win races, has never wavered. That's who I am, it's what I am.”
The veteran drivers will be joined on the track by a host of NASCAR’s vaunted rising stars, including Kyle Larson, Ryan Blaney, Daytona 500 winner Austin Dillon, Chase Elliott, Alex Bowman, Daniel Suarez, Erik Jones, Ty Dillon, William Byron and Bubba Wallace, driver of the No. 43 machine for legend Richard Petty.
In addition to the great racing, there are so many cool options to make a complete weekend of family fun, including great video entertainment provided by Colossus, the world’s largest center-hung video screen, premium VIP experiences like the Chairman’s Experience, tailgating, on-site camping, concerts, great food and beverages in the concession stands throughout the property, and so much more.
And for families who want to bring the entire clan, Bristol Motor Speedway officials are making it easier than ever for kids to have an awesome experience. Kids’ tickets (12 and under) are free and adult tickets are $5 for Friday’s (April 13) Bush’s Beans Pole Day. On Saturday (April 14), kids’ tickets are free and adult tickets start at $30 for the Fitzgerald 300 NASCAR XFINITY Series race and the Zombie Auto 150 NASCAR K&N Series event. On Sunday (April 15) adult tickets start at $60 for the Food City 500 and kids’ tickets are $10. For all races, each child must have a physical ticket in hand to enter the gates. The Bristol Motor Speedway ticket office is the only authorized location that can produce the free kids’ tickets.
To purchase tickets to the Food City 500, please call 423-BRISTOL or buy them online at www.BRISTOLTIX.com. Tickets can also be purchased directly from any neighborhood Food City store.

The next three weeks will have a lot of firsts for rookie driver Vinnie Miller as he prepares for his first “West Coast Swing” (the name given to the back-to-back Las Vegas, Phoenix, and California race weekends) in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The Boyd Gaming 300 race weekend will be Miller’s first time racing Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS), and his first time visiting Las Vegas, N.V.
JAS Expedited Trucking will once again be on board Miller’s No. 01 JD Motorsports with Gary Keller Chevrolet Camaro for Saturday’s Boyd Gaming 300.
“I am excited about going to Las Vegas Motor Speedway,” said Miller. “I like tri-oval, half-mile race tracks. They seem to fit my driving style the best, and they are very competitive. I’ve heard the track is really fast, but it will have more grip than Atlanta (Motor Speedway), and hopefully, be a little easier to tame. I’m hoping I will be able to bring home a better finish for JAS Expedited Trucking and JD Motorsports with Gary Keller. Atlanta was a tough one, but I’m ready to roll on to Las Vegas. I am looking forward to the West Coast Swing. I’ve never been to Las Vegas, Phoenix or California, so it should be a lot of fun in-between the races.”

The first African-American NASCAR national series race winner in 50 years. The first African-American woman to go “over the wall” on a pit crew in a NASCAR national series. The NASCAR Xfinity Series Rookie of the Year. The 2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion.
All four history-makers were the product of Rev Racing and the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Program; all are products of a team co-owned by Dr. Jennifer Satterfield-Siegel, the first African-American female NASCAR touring series team owner, car sponsor and race winner.
An Indianapolis native and resident, Satterfield-Siegel is a prominent Board Certified Pediatric Dentist in her hometown as the owner and head dentist at Special Smiles Pediatric Dentistry. Since 2014, she has made a national impact as a car owner, running under the management of Rev Racing, which she and her husband Max Siegel co-own and manage.
The competition arm of NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity Program, Rev Racing is the team charged with developing female and minority drivers, and pit crew members in the NASCAR development series for future competition at NASCAR’s highest levels.
Under the Siegels’ management, Rev Racing has trained drivers and pit crew members to prepare them for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Xfinity Series and Monster Energy Cup Series since 2010. Drivers such as, Kyle Larson, Darrell Wallace Jr. and Daniel Suarez are all a testament to the program’s success. When Rev Racing alumna Brehanna Daniels became the first African-American female pit crew member to go over the wall, the program’s success became even more well-rounded.
As a first-year owner in 2014, she and driver Mackena Bell garnered a top-10 finish in the K&N Pro Series East. In 2015, Satterfield-Siegel sponsored the No. 42 Special Smiles Pediatric Dentistry Toyota, driven by Jay Beasley and Sergio Pena, earning four top-5s, eight top-10s and one win at Virginia International Raceway. She also owned the No. 2 UTI/NTI Toyota car driven by Collin Cabre, who earned one win, two top-5s and three top 10s. Cabre became the sixth driver from Rev Racing to win for the Drive for Diversity Program, giving the Siegel’s their 17th win.
As NASCAR continues to diversify its landscape, Satterfield-Siegel looks for ways to increase opportunities for diverse drivers and pit crew members. “I could not be more proud of the success of the drivers and pit crew graduates,” said Satterfield-Siegel. “I am very excited about the role I have played in the development of these young men and women. Being the first African-American female NASCAR car owner and sponsor has allowed me to impact an entire sport and culture. We look forward to many more years of continued success for these young, diverse men and women.”
Being a trailblazer is nothing new to Satterfield-Siegel. Many times voted the top pediatric dentist in Indianapolis, her volunteer and business accomplishments have been recognized by the March of Dimes, Links Inc., the Indianapolis Business Journal, Jack and Jill of America, and the Coalition of Black Women, among many others.
As Satterfield-Siegel’s success rate continues to soar, she is focused on providing the same opportunities for others to pave their way as well. She will continue to own and sponsor a car in the 2018 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East season, while serving children and special needs patients at her practice in Indianapolis. She and husband Max are focused on finding the next set of talented drivers and pit crew members to take the track and follow their professional winning streak.

When I’ll Have Another won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes in 2012, he entered into an exclusive club of eligibility – the opportunity to become a Triple Crown winner. All that stood between him and immortality was the grueling Belmont Stakes, a race that bears the moniker “test of the champion.” Exaltation however, was not to be had for the strapping colt as he was scratched from the event just a few days before due to tendonitis, a condition that would ultimately end his racing career and send him into retirement.
Immortality and eternal glory aren’t on the line for Kyle Busch this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where he will attempt his very own triple, but when it comes to Saturday’s Boyd Gaming 300 NASCAR XFINITY series race, Busch would very much like to have another.
Driving the No. 18 Interstate Batteries Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), Busch will make his first start in XFINITY series competition in 2018. It’s one of three races in which he will compete during the forthcoming trip to his hometown, where he will attempt to complete NASCAR’s version of the triple by winning Friday’s Camping World Truck Series race, the XFINITY series event on Saturday, and the main event on Sunday – the NASCAR Cup series race.
For the second leg of this particular triple, Busch will sport the iconic colors of Interstate Batteries, the founding partner and “Official Battery of Joe Gibbs Racing.”
Since 1992, JGR’s first full season in NASCAR, Interstate Batteries has played an integral role in the organization’s development from start-up race team to championship powerhouse. The brand has been tied to Busch since his first season with JGR in 2008 – appearing as the primary sponsor on the No. 18 Toyota Camry for select NASCAR Cup Series events during the last 10 seasons.
Known for their “outrageously dependable batteries,” Interstate Batteries could provide the boost Busch needs to make another trip to victory lane in XFINITY competition at Las Vegas, a feat that has proven rather elusive for the 2009 series champ.
Busch will make his 339th start in XFINITY Series competition this weekend. It’s a series in which he boasts 91 career wins, 208 top-five finishes and 244 top-10s. He’s earned the top starting spot a total of 64 times and has led a whopping 18,549 laps. He literally owns just about every record that exists in the series. For all of that success, one of the tracks that’s historically proven troublesome for the 32-year-old is the one around which he grew up – the 1.5-mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway oval.
The Las Vegas-native has made a total of 13 starts in XFINITY Series competition at his hometown track. After several near misses, Busch finally broke through to pick up a series win at Las Vegas a mere two years ago. It was his 11th XFINITY Series start at the track and he scored the victory in style, winning from the pole. In addition to the win in 2016, Busch’s XFINITY Series record at Las Vegas features four top-fives and five top-10s, two poles – in 2016 and 2017 – and a total of 521 laps led.
Regardless of whether he’s in position to complete the triple, come Saturday Busch’s focus will be single-minded as he aims to have another.

Fresh off his best finish this season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), Niece Motorsports veteran driver Austin Wayne Self (@AustinWSelf) looks to keep his No. 22 Don’t Mess with Texas Chevrolet team pointed in the right direction in Friday night’s Stratosphere 200 at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway.
Returning to Sin City, Self, the Austin, Texas native, has two prior starts in Las Vegas, including a track-best 20th-place run last fall. With experience and a determined Niece Motorsports crew alongside, the team eyes its first top-10 finish of the season.
“I’ve always liked Las Vegas,” said Self who sits 19th in Truck Series points. “Each time I’ve run there – I seem to find myself getting more comfortable. It’s a place where momentum certainly helps and balance is key for the long run.
“Last weekend at Atlanta, we worked really hard to get our No. 22 Don’t Mess with Texas Chevrolet better from the green flag to the checkered flag, and I felt that my crew chief Joey Cohen did a great job making the adjustments to my liking, which allowed us to have a solid finish.”
While the Truck Series teams will practice during the day on Thursday and start racing near dusk on Friday night, Self says it’s important for his team to not get too wrapped up in what the truck is doing during the day – and instead prepare for the adjustments of racing under the lights.
“It’s going to be cooler than normal for Las Vegas this weekend and I think that could be a factor in handling,” Self explained. “Las Vegas seems to be one of those temperature sensitive tracks. We’ll start the race in some daylight, but end completely under the lights. The good thing is that Niece has experience at Las Vegas under the lights, and we have our alliance with GMS Racing to feed off as well.
“As good as I ran on most of the intermediate tracks last year, I’d be disappointed if we didn’t contend for a top-10 finish this weekend.”
Set to close out a three-week stretch for the Truck Series Friday night, Self says the first two races have been solid at Niece Motorsports and believes when it comes to the grind of the season, his No. 22 Niece Motorsports team will be a player.
“There have been a lot of changes over the off-season and into the new year, but it’s all been great for Niece and my team,” explained Self. “Justin, (Fontaine) my teammate is off to a fast start and I think we really made some serious gains at Atlanta.
“If we can come out of Las Vegas with a good result, we can go back to the shop, regroup and plan to raise ourselves another notch for Martinsville Speedway next month.”
Like last year, the Don’t mess with Texas campaign and AM Technical Solutions will support Self in his 43rd career start.
The Don’t mess with Texas campaign is part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) litter prevention program, which includes Don’t mess with Texas, Adopt-a-Highway, and a grassroots partnership with Keep Texas Beautiful.
For more than 30 years, Don’t mess with Texas has made tremendous progress educating Texans about the impact of littering on the state’s economy, environment and physical landscape.
In 42 NCWTS races, the 2015 ARCA Racing Series rookie of the year has one top-five (second at Daytona 2017) and three top-10 finishes. The Texan maintains an average finish of 18.8 during his three years of competition.

With a solid start to his rookie season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), Niece Motorsports rookie of the year contender Justin Fontaine (@driverFontaine) heads to Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway eyeing another successful weekend in Friday night’s Stratosphere 200.
After earning his first career top-10 finish at Daytona, his No. 45 ProMATIC Automation team earned a respectable 19th-place finish this past weekend at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway.
Set to embrace the second straight track he’s yet to compete at, the Asheville, N.C. native looks to better his Atlanta performance and keep his team on a solid path three races into the year.
“Yeah, I’m looking forward to Las Vegas,” offered Fontaine who sits 13th in the Truck Series standings. “Atlanta was a fast and tough mile-and-a-half, but Las Vegas should be a little similar to the other mile-and-a-half tracks I’ve run in ARCA and at Chicagoland last year in a Truck.
“I’ve been told that you really need to get your truck to rotate through the corners to carry the speed on the straightaways. Our Niece Motorsports team has a great technical alliance with GMS Racing and I know that relationship should be a benefit for us this weekend.”
With a two-week break on deck following Las Vegas, Fontaine says it’s important for his Darrell Morrow-led team to have a solid run in Sin City to propel them towards his return to Martinsville (Va.) Speedway next month.
“We’re pretty happy with the way our season has kicked off,” added Fontaine. “Darrell and the guys have really busted their tails to make sure they bring the best possible truck for me. We learned a lot at Atlanta together – and I learned even more as a driver.
“Not every weekend is going to be great, but it’s about making gains and leaving the race track knowing we accomplished something. Las Vegas is going to be a quick race, but I think we should be able to put ourselves in a position to contend for our second top-10 finish of the year.”
After serving as an associate partner last weekend at Atlanta, ProMATIC Automation, which specializes in the design and build of custom factory automation equipment, returns as the primary partner for the second race this year.
“Everyone at ProMATIC was really pumped up after our run at Daytona,” sounded Fontaine. “It was really important for me to show my gratitude with on-track performance. The plan is go to Las Vegas and see if we can duplicate or better what we did at Daytona.”

Former NASCAR driver and NBC Sports racing analyst Kyle Petty is once again revving up his Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America for the 24th year in a row. As one of the most successful and popular charity rides in the country, the Ride will travel down the East Coast this spring for the first time since 2011.
Starting in Portland, Maine, on May 5 and ending in Greensboro, North Carolina, on May 11, Petty will lead 225 participants, including a record of more than 25 new riders, through nine states in seven days. Presented for the sixth consecutive year by Manheim®, North America’s leading provider of used vehicle services, the Ride will travel 1,200 miles to raise funds and awareness for Victory Junction – a camp dedicated to providing life-changing camping experiences for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.
Dubbed by Petty as “The Americana Tour,” this year’s route features many bucket list stops, sights and activities for participants – including victory laps at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Pocono Raceway, the hallowed grounds of Woodstock, tours of the Martin Guitar Factory, Harley-Davidson Factory and Petty Museum, a visit to Manheim Pennsylvania—the world’s largest auto auction, and so much more. But perhaps the most exciting part of the 2018 Ride will be its homecoming and finale celebration at Victory Junction.
“It’s been more than seven years since we’ve been to the East Coast. We heard the requests of both our riders and fans, and we’re excited to deliver a special route full of incredible surprises and experiences, like riding through Shenandoah National Park – which will be the 13th national park visited on the Ride,” said Petty. “We’ll also be ending the Ride at Camp this year, which always brings everything full circle. Year after year, all the miles we travel are for the kids at Victory Junction. They’re the reason we ride.”
Spectators along the 2018 route are encouraged to attend one of the Ride’s seven overnight stops or daily fuel stops to greet Petty and the riders, purchase memorabilia and make donations.
24th Anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America Schedule:
“Giving back is a big priority for Manheim and our parent company Cox, so we are thrilled to sponsor the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America once again this year,” said Grace Huang, president of Cox Automotive Inventory Solutions. “We’re excited that this year’s route will bring riders to the largest auto auction location in the world—our very own Manheim Pennsylvania—where we look forward to welcoming everyone and rallying together to support this worthwhile cause.”
Because of the Ride, 8,085 children have attended Victory Junction at no cost to their families. Last year alone, the Ride raised $1.3 million and sent 100 children to Camp. Victory Junction has served as the Ride’s primary beneficiary since its establishment by Petty and his family in 2004 in honor of his late son, Adam.
Among the celebrities participating in this year’s Ride are NASCAR Hall of Famer and seven-time champion Richard Petty; NASCAR legends Harry Gant, Hershel McGriff and Donnie Allison; current NASCAR driver David Ragan; former NASCAR driver and ESPN racing analyst Ricky Craven; former NFL great and Heisman Trophy winner (1982) Herschel Walker; Heisman Trophy winner (1980) and Super Bowl champion (XXII) George Rogers; and NBC Sports NASCAR personalities Krista Voda, Rutledge Wood and Rick Allen.
“What started as Kyle and a few friends just having a good time, riding to-and-from racetracks, has turned into something so much more. It’s still a way for everyone to have a good time, but to also do some good,” said Kyle’s father Richard Petty. “Because of these riders and fans, so many deserving kids get to have life-changing experiences at Victory Junction.”
The 2018 Ride is made possible by presenting sponsor Manheim, as well as Coca-Cola, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Dodge Law, Racing Electronics, WinCraft Racing, FLUIDYNE Racing Products, Petty Family Foundation, Headbands of Hope, Piedmont Moving Systems, WileyX and Goody’s.

Despite having never raced at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Mills was running well before having to make unscheduled pit stops for a shredded tire.
“It was great to be back in a NASCAR Xfinity Series racecar,” said Mills. “I came into Atlanta without much mile-and-a-half experience, but my No. 0 team and my teammates helped me out a ton. We were going to have a pretty decent finish, but one of my tires shredded right at the end of the race. Luckily, the car wasn’t damaged, so we were able to finish. I can’t thank Flex Glue and JF Electric enough for supporting me this weekend.”
Next up for the NASCAR Xfinity Series is the Boyd Gaming 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 3rd, 2018.

Rookie driver Vinnie Miller, driving the No. 01 JAS Expedited Trucking Chevrolet Camaro, came home in the 31st position in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS).
In his first ever race at AMS, Miller qualified 39th but was able to race as high as the top 20 during the Rinnai 250.
“I can’t thank JAS Expedited Trucking enough for coming on board with this JD Motorsports with Gary Keller team,” said Miller. “Atlanta is definitely a tough track where tires were an issue. We didn’t qualify where we had hoped, but we were able to advance to the top-20 in the first stage but had some issues on pit strategy and cautions that put us in the 31st place for the finish. The guys on the No. 01 team never gave up and I know we will have a strong car in Las Vegas. I just need to continue to learn and grow each week.”

Garrett Smithley, racing at his home track of Atlanta Motor Speedway, had to overcome a few challenges to finish in the top 25 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Rinnai 250.
Cellairis, a leading global device repair and accessory company based in Atlanta, came on board as the primary sponsor on Smithley’s No. 15 JD Motorsports with Gary Keller Chevrolet Camaro.
“It’s always fun to come back to my home track,” said Smithley. “We had some issues with the car on Friday, so we only had two runs in practice. It was really tough to start the race with limited practice, so we used the first stage and a half of the race to really get the car where we wanted it. With everything we were up against, we’re pretty happy with a top 25, and it gives us some momentum going into Vegas. I can’t say enough about my sponsors Superior Essex and Cellairis. They are such great groups of people. It means a lot to have two Atlanta-based companies on board for my home-town race, and I’m hoping we can do more together in the future.”

It’s been a little more than two weeks since Willie Mullins scored a stunning runner-up finish in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards opener at Daytona International Speedway.
The runner-up finish in the Lucas Oil 200 driven by General Tire came with a lot of media obligations. He had to go to the Daytona International Speedway Media Center and answer questions and he took part in several interviews via phone in the days that followed.
Mullins, 37, is still trying to wrap his head around it all.
“It was a lot to take in,” Mullins recalled. “When they looked at us and said I had to go to the Media Center, I was like what? I’ve never had to do that before. We had a friend of ours there who whisked us away so we could get over there. Thankfully we were able to sit down and take a couple minute break while we were waiting on (third-place) Sheldon Creed to get to the Media Center.
“It was pretty neat to sit down and talk to everybody and get ourselves published in USA Today and the Washington Post and be on the AP Wire. It was definitely more than I ever thought it could be. It was just an unbelievable feeling.
“Honestly, it’s still hard to believe it. It’s hard to believe we finished second at Daytona.”
However, the minute the race ended Mullins had to shift his attention back to reality. Daytona was effectively a vacation for Mullins and his volunteer crew, most of whom traveled to the race from Virginia.
“The whole time we were in the Media Center I was thinking about getting out to help the guys tear the car down in inspection after the race,” Mullins said. “We’ve got a small volunteer crew and I wanted to make sure I was out there helping them.”
The day after the race Mullins was heading home, driving the Mullins Racing hauler the 13 hours back to Fredericksburg, Va., so he could return to his day job at Bugsy's Auto Body & Repair the next day.
“After that we had to get the car loaded up and first thing the next morning we started the 13 hour drive back to Virginia. I drove the hauler the entire way back so we could get home and get back to work,” Mullins continued. “Now we’re back in the swing of things here at the shop trying to fix trash trucks and customer vehicles. We’re back to making money so we can try and go to Talladega.
“We work hard at Bugsy’s Auto because that is how we pay for racing,” Mullins continued. “We have a few corporate sponsors like Crow Wing Recycling and CW Metals. That, combined with all the work here at the shop we get from the folks over at County Waste, allows us to go racing. County Waste isn’t a traditional sponsor, but we wouldn’t be able to race without them.”
“We work hard every day here at the shop and we’re able to put together a great car with great people. I believe with my life that nobody can out work us. They can out money us, but they can never out work us. I think our work and our work ethic shows in our results at Daytona.”
Mullins Racing is currently seeking sponsorship in order to compete in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards General Tire 200 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on April 27. Interested parties may contact Dinah Mullins at dinahmariethompson@gmail.com.

Korbin Forrister posted a 16th place finish in the running of the Active Pest Control 200 Benefitting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race.
Forrister placed the No. 7 TruClear Global All Out Motorsports Toyota Tundra in the 21st place position on the starting grid for the 130 lap race at the Hampton, GA track.
Forrister was forced three-wide passing another Camping World Truck at the start of the race, sending him to the tail end of the longest line for the restart on lap four. The Cedartown, GA native was able to recover after the penalty finishing 16th in the Active Pest Control 200 Benefitting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
“I made an error right off the bat on a rule, completely my fault. We were able to battle back to stay on the lead lap and brought home a 16th place finish. I really had fun at my hometown track. I love Atlanta Motor Speedway; the place has a lot of character. Doug (George) and the All Out Motorsports team brought a much better truck than where we finished. We showed a lot of speed though, and I know that as the team matures we will be there at the end of the race battling for the win. Thank you TruClear Global for supporting us in Atlanta and I can’t wait to get back on track in Dover.”
The No. 7 All Out Motorsports NCWTS team will return at Dover International Speedway, Friday, May 4th.

2017 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) Sunoco Rookie of the Year Calvin Carroll of Andover, NJ got a jumpstart on his racing season during the recent week long run in the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway.
Debuting a new Troyer chassis and fitted with a Robert Yates spec motor built by Bob Bruneau, Carroll ran steady and smooth across the five days of action and capped off his Speed Week with a solid sixth place tally in the Richie Evans Memorial 100.
Carroll and the No. 25 Power With Prestige team which is owned by his father, Joe Carroll, left the Sunshine State with enthused optimism as they now prepare for the season opening NWMT Safety Kleen 150 at Myrtle Beach Speedway on March 17.
"I felt it was a very important week for us. We treated it more as a test session, running at the same track every day for five days. We improved daily even if the results didn't show it. The car got better each day and it really showed on the last day. It made the whole week worth it finishing towards the front that night," said the 17-year old Carroll.
However, it wasn't just the week of racing that has Carroll pumped about the upcoming season but more so the addition of noted crew chief Stash Butova who has signed on to guide the upstart beginning with the Myrtle Beach race.
"I'm super excited about it. I really feel he (Butova) will not just help me but our whole team this year with better results. He seems really the same way to be working with me and it's the same with me to him," said Carroll.
When it comes to Modifieds, Butova has an impeccable reputation of working with great talent and garnering positive results. His teaming with the Carroll was firmed last week.
"Right before Speed Weeks I reached out to the Carroll family knowing that they were looking for a crew chief. We started talking and it just made sense this would be a good fit that we get together," said Butova.
Butova first met up with the Carroll team during a NWMT event last season at Stafford Speedway. Having a keen eye for talent he felt that Calvin could bud into a solid performer on the Tour.
"What I saw in the team was a good, hard working family. But I always felt there was that something missing and I could tell that Calvin had potential," explained Butova.
"I feel that they understand my record working with other drivers who won races and championships and all that stuff. But when you hand over the reins to someone, key is trust and as long as the family gives me the full trust and Calvin believes in me I think everything will be fine."
In 2017 Carroll locked down the Rookie of the Year, was the NWMT Hoosier Tire Most Improved Driver and finished 12th in points. He had a best finish of third during the 150-lapper at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He also tested an ARCA car at Daytona and was approved for Superspeedway races.
"One of my fortes is I'm good at nurturing young talents in bringing them up. The thing that intrigues me the most with Calvin is unlike a lot of other young kids he actually does all of the work on the cars himself for the most part," said Butova.
"So he has an understanding of the technical end of it. From that standpoint we need to translate that into his driving and we want to make that whole good combination.
"Once we can establish running up front, communication on pit stops and then more importantly finishing top-10, then finishing top-5s and essentially learning how to win because it will take a few times to learn how to win before you can win."
For Carroll, one of the ups for 2018 is returning to many of the same tracks from last year where he will look to improve.
"I'm really looking forward to getting back to many of the same tracks from last year because that will be a big plus for me," said Carroll.
"Not only do we have our notebook to go off of but now we'll have Stash and all of his knowledge to work off of. Knowing what to except when we return will be a big plus for me."
Expectations from both Carroll and Butova are of course upbeat but understandably it will take some time to become acclimated to one another. Given Butova's background and the excellent work ethic of Carroll, the anticipation of good outings may come sooner than later.
"Running in the top five is one thing but when you're trying to win and race against guys like Ryan Preece, Eric Goodale and Timmy Solimito, they have talented teams and are talented drivers. But there are still ways that you can strategize to still win," said Butova.
"It's not going to happen overnight but I think that you build as a team and when you start running better you are more optimal to get more team members to improve what you have. I'm excited to get started," he continued.
"I think that legitimately running consistently in the top-10 and time trialing up front and then contending for a win. I feel that any driver, any crew chief - that's what they want, is just an opportunity to go and compete against the best and if we can do that it will be a pretty successful year."

FOX NASCAR reporter Alan Cavanna and his CNN national correspondent wife, Dianne Gallagher, have been married for nearly one year. Unlike most newlyweds, though, their nights at home often require a suitcase – for one.
To further both their careers, Cavanna and Gallagher currently reside in different cities until work permits them a shared zip code. For now, Cavanna, a reporter for FS1’s NASCAR RACE HUB, NASCAR RACEDAY and the NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES, calls Charlotte, N.C., home. Gallagher, whom he met while working in local TV in Charlotte, is based in Atlanta, site of their next “date night,” compliments of Cavanna’s FOX NASCAR duties at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend.
“We see each other as often as we can, but this is the first time work has brought us together since we got married,” Cavanna said. “We’ve looked forward to the Atlanta race because it will allow us to feel ‘normal’ for a few days -- both of us staying in the same place and going off to work in the morning.”
The Atlanta race weekend serves as a bit of a trial run for the geographic logistics of their latest living situation. The reporter duo had the Washington-to-Charlotte commute and its challenges down pat, logging mile after mile whenever possible, even if for only two hours of face time. Now, it’s time to negotiate the Charlotte to Atlanta trek, including the dreaded I-85 route.
“We are just coming off of spending the entire off-season together and trying to figure out how our commute will look with the new racing season,” Cavanna explained. “Now that she is in Atlanta, will we see each other much more than we did when she was in D.C. That means a lot of trips up and down I-85.
“It's not always easy, but we do what we have to to be together, even it's just a few hours,” he continued. "One time she was flying through Charlotte on her way to a story. We were only able to see each other on the opposite side of the security rope, but it was worth it."
Prior to being transferred to Atlanta last October, Gallagher had been based in Washington, D.C., with CNN for two-and-a-half years. Cavanna says the distance comes with the territory, and there were no issues with her relocating either time.
“Although it’s not ideal, it was just natural for her to move both times,” said Cavanna, a Syracuse University grad who has grown to love watching his wife’s alma mater, Tennessee, play football. “We know how that goes in TV, so it never was a surprise because we discussed our career aspirations long ago – me in NASCAR with FOX Sports and her on a network news stage. There never was a question about whether or not she’d take either job. We support each other.”
For Atlanta, that support comes in the form of Cavanna taking her to the race track for the weekend.
“Dianne has been around racing and the folks in the sport because she worked in local TV in Charlotte, but she has never been nearly as immersed as I am on a daily basis,” he said. “She definitely will go to the Cup Series race on Sunday, and if I can coax her into it, I just might get to make the entire weekend a working date night.”
Cavanna and Gallagher met while on work assignment, so it is only fitting their together time sometimes involves business.
“We met when we were both news reporters -- she was based in Rock Hill, S.C., and I in Charlotte, and my assignment that day took me there,” Cavanna recalled. “We literally met in a courtroom. I asked to borrow her laptop, hopped onto her Facebook account and ‘friended’ myself from her computer. In retrospect, it sounds a little creepy. But it worked.”
They quickly became friends on and off the social media platform, but that one simple word, ‘work,’ perpetually has played a large role in their relationship ever since.
“Work doesn’t often take us to the same town, but we knew going into this relationship that could be a possibility,” Cavanna said. “Obviously, it’s not an ideal arrangement, but we are making it work. That’s important for both of us at this stage in our lives. We’re happy. After all, as The Killers’ song goes, ‘I won’t shine if you don’t shine.’”

Announced today, Team Penske and Siemens, a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, have entered into a new technical partnership. Under the multi-year agreement, Siemens will help enhance Team Penske’s performance with full access to a wide variety of software products to enable advanced digital design and simulations. Team Penske race teams will utilize Siemens’ software across their computer-aided design (CAD), engineering, simulation and machining platforms. Utilizing this software, Team Penske can create a digital twin of their race cars, which can help engineers simulate engine configurations, innovate new parts and predict race results in real-time.
“Team Penske is excited to welcome Siemens as a key technical partner, beginning with the 2018 season,” said Roger Penske. “Siemens is a company and a brand that is known worldwide for its superior technology and engineering. Our teams will benefit from Siemens’ expertise and support and we look forward to helping grow the Siemens footprint in the world of motorsports.”
Team Penske is partnering with Siemens PLM Software to adopt an integrated virtual environment for digital modeling and simulation. Siemens’ PLM tools allow Team Penske to keep large amounts of data well organized and accessible for review by anyone within the team, and also enables engineers to quickly iterate through design concepts with the digital twin to arrive at near-optimum solutions within a high-intensity, short timeframe environment. The digital twin is the key to making effective, data-driven design changes at a very rapid pace, and thus, helping improve the results at the racetrack every week.
“We are proud to team up with Team Penske, an American icon in motorsports. As a racing team with extremely challenging requirements on development time and accuracy, Team Penske will be able to fully leverage the unique capabilities of our software solutions,” said Lisa Davis, Managing Board member of Siemens and CEO of Siemens USA. “Our integrated industry solutions, combined with the expertise of the entire design and racing team from Team Penske, will help create world-class vehicles.
Utilizing Siemens’ PLM tools allows Team Penske to quickly analyze thousands of electronic data streams full of critical on-track performance information, and apply changes to the race car’s digital twin. These changes are then reviewed for performance and durability in a virtual environment, which allows low-cost, high fidelity simulation of the results. With Siemens’ technology, Team Penske is able to capitalize on this streamlined digital process and quickly transition to the physical stages of manufacturing, quality assurance, installation onto the race car, and validate performance in the physical environment. This entire process can be completed with high-impact components in as little as a few hours.
“We are excited to partner with Team Penske and be a part of their strong legacy of championship racing,” said Tony Hemmelgarn, president and CEO, Siemens PLM Software. “We look forward to supporting Team Penske with our software to help streamline designs, speed results, and deliver the most successful racing teams yet.”
The partnership will also include Siemens as an associate sponsor on the Team Penske cars competing in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, the NASCAR XFINITY Series, the Verizon IndyCar Series and the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship. Siemens branding will be featured on all Team Penske Indy cars and on the uniforms worn by Team Penske drivers and teams competing in NASCAR.
The 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season began last weekend with the 60th running of the Daytona 500, where Team Penske cars earned fourth- and seventh-place finishes. The 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series season begins on the Streets of St. Petersburg in Florida on Sunday, March 11.

NASCAR today unveiled a new official brand identity which will replace the bar mark used by the sanctioning body since 1976. The announcement was made in conjunction with the news that Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series™ will be the new name of the sport’s premier series beginning January 1, 2017.
The new brand mark and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series mark, which prominently features the iconic Monster Energy logo, together represent a new era in NASCAR and were first shared today across NASCAR social and digital media channels.
The NASCAR brand identity has been in development since early 2016 as part of a broader effort to refresh the NASCAR brand. It was designed to pay tribute to the storied history of NASCAR, incorporating elements of all four previous marks since the company’s inaugural season of 1948.
“Our new NASCAR mark is modern, timeless, and embraces the heritage of our sport,” said Jill Gregory, NASCAR senior vice president and chief marketing officer. “It was important for us to recognize our history and implement a piece of each previous mark in the new design. Our goal was to evolve the sport’s visual identity to make it concise, relevant and functional, while respecting and maintaining the unique qualities of the original mark.”
The first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series points race will be the 59th running of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 26 (2 p.m. ET, FOX, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio). Tickets are available at NASCAR.com/tickets.

One of the hottest topics surrounding NASCAR over the last few years has been regarding the Sprint Cup Series schedule. The schedule, that spans across 36 weekends along with five non-points races, has not changed much over the last few years. Could NASCAR be looking at possible changes for 2018 and beyond?
Adam Stern, a motorsports journalist with the Sports Business Journal, sent out this photo on Monday with a quote from Jon Miller, President of Programming for NBC Sports.
.@NASCAR and industry stakeholders are studying the possibility of adding midweek races to future schedules – https://t.co/iDy9BdNUwq pic.twitter.com/4nNnIbXaw3
— Adam Stern (@A_S12) December 12, 2016
Could NASCAR be eying the possibility of midweek races? It’s a talk that has been growing among the masses of NASCAR nation on social media and something that is very interesting to say the least.
Having midweek races would certainly not help attendance because majority of people work throughout the week. With that in mind, it doesn’t shut the door entirely. NASCAR could host these proposed midweek races at smaller facilities all over the country and would increase the number of television viewers. Television numbers for NASCAR have been down over the last few years and could use a spark with the addition of short track and other events.
Another concern is that teams would have a short turnaround time between race to race. This is, in part, a major concern. One way to help with the turnaround time would be like in July, when NASCAR races at Daytona International Speedway, have the premier series race on their road course during the week on Wednesday. Having one or two more additional road course events is something, in my honest opinion, NASCAR needs to have on their schedule.
With all of this in mind, it could also hurt the event leading up to the weekend. Having an event on the road course could also take away from folks attending the Coke Zero 400 or vise-versa.
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, the AA of NASCAR, has hosted a midweek race at Eldora Speedway over the last four years. The half-mile dirt oval puts on one of the best shows all year long on the NASCAR stage and is one of the most anticipated events all year long. So much so that NASCAR nation take to social media asking NASCAR to add a dirt track race somewhere in the XFINITY and Sprint Cup Series schedule. Perhaps that midweek races could open the opportunity for a Sprint Cup Series race on dirt.
NASCAR stepping into prime-time midweek events would join other sports leagues to do so. If NASCAR decides to have midweek races, it should come in the summer portion of the schedule as it could prevent some from attending because of school or other activities the following day if not.

Since the checkered flag has fallen on the 2016 season, the landscape at BK Racing has changed. Matt DiBenedetto and David Ragan have announced that they will not be returning to the organization for the 2017 season both under different circumstances.
DiBenedetto announced via Twitter that he made the personal decision to not return in 2017. He also made note that there are other options available on the table for next season.
I've decided to go in a different direction next year. Exciting announcements coming soon. It's been a great ride @BKRacing_2383 Thank you!
— Matthew DiBenedetto (@mattdracing) December 8, 2016
Shortly after the announcement, DiBenedetto went on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio’s “Dialed In” with host Claire B. Lang to talk about the announcement. "I can only say so much at this time. I’ve been in talks with BK, and no hard feelings. I'm appreciative of everything they've given me. … Just kind of evaluating the team situation for next year. From my end there's a little too much unknown, so I just had to make that decision. I'm excited about what the future has to hold here still, and obviously everyone will have to stay tuned."
He scored his best finish of sixth place at Bristol Motor Speedway in early 2016.
For Ragan, the offer to extend his contract was not offered for 2017. The option was there for BK Racing to offer a contract, but the decision was made to take it off the table. Ragan has yet to make comment about his 2017 plans.
Ragan scored his best finish of 16th at Daytona International Speedway in July.
